Overview
RWS were tasked with the refurbishment of a warehouse for a client. The team knew it would be one of the more obscure and complicated projects that the company has undertaken.
The Brief
Most refit projects involve removing and stripping out existing features and facilities. For this project a commercial passenger jet training facility needed to be removed prior to refurbishment. In order to remove the training modules, RWS had to reconfigure the main rear elevation by dismantling the external rear cladding, roller shutter doors and supports. The removal of the commercial jet was a complicated profess, and required:
- Disassembly of the jet and associated equipment
- Use of specialist lifting equipment to allow lifting onto haulage
- Inclusion of specialist transportation to allow removal
- All works to be undertaken in accordance with the current Health and Safety Legislation.
The Outcome
The building works were completed within the allocated time frame, and once the plane was removed the refurbishment was completed to the specified standard and budget. Upon completion of the project, the building was ready, in its original condition, to be handed back to the landlord.
