What is Ballistiroc ?
Ballistiroc supplied and installed by RWS LTD is a unique modular block blast and ballistic product which can be erected quickly and efficiently with minimal plant and in restricted conditions. This can be done using the “locker block” system which uses a series of inter connecting blocks which can be made to forms walls and partitions without the need for specialist training and be demounted if required.
The technology behind Ballistiroc combines rubber chips and fibers with cement to make ballistiroc blocks that can stop .50 caliber Winchester Sabotaged Light Armor Penetrator (SLAP) rounds used in M2 Heavy Machine guns.
The material build up of Ballistiroc and the process in which it is manufactured can allow the blocks to be made to any size or specification, We are undertaking tests on a sheet lining system, A news item will be published as soon as we have certified results and data RWS News
Locker Block System
RWS are keen to promote the use of this type of Ballistiroc product based on its pure adaptability for its use, it fits together easily and quickly, it can form temporary protection or form part of a larger screen or hoarding including buildings.
This system can be rendered or finished to suit any site requirements or left in situ as it is. Please contact RWS to discuss any aspects of your project with one of our friendly team. Contact us
Ballistiroc has four levels of NATO accreditations and has passed STANAG 4569 (Level IV Heavy machine Gun 20mm FSP rounds simulating a 155mm threat, at 960 m/sec from a distance of 25 meters) and BS/EN 1522/1533 (Bullet Resistance: Walls and Flooring) standards which cover the highest threats from artillery fire. Testing was performed at Wiltshire Ballistic Service Ltd., an established test facility in the UK with over 20 years’ experience.
All rounds except the 20mm FSPs were shot from a track mounted laser sighted Universal Receiver fitted with the appropriate barrel to give projectile stability and the required velocity. The 20mm FSPs were fired from a 76mm receiver specially adapted to accept 20mm and 30mm barrels.
Ballistiroc Blast resistance
Ballistiroc™ blocks were successfully tested for blast resistance against 100kg of TNT at a
Standoff distance of 15m under CPNI (Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure)
Guidelines at Spadeadam Air Force Base, the largest RAF base in the United Kingdom.
Ballistiroc is a very adaptable building material for temporary or fixed use, RWS project team have a wealth of knowledge dealing with different aspects of bullet and blast resistant facades.
We can implement our blast and bullet resistant glazing systems within the Ballistiroc structure to create truly secure building solutions whether it be secure storage, protection or guard house facilities.
RWS have in house design & security consultants available to discuss your project and how to optimize against possible threats. Please Feel free to contact us to discuss Contact RWS
