British Embassy – Vienna

Location: British Embassy – Vienna, Austria

Client: Foreign & Commonwealth Office

Value: £1,720,000

Construction Period: 18 Months

Project Description:

The building is an existing Embassy of approximately 20 years of age. The building fabric is pre-cast concrete with stone cladding externally; floors and other structures are of reinforced concrete. We provided a comfort cooling system that integrates with the lighting system to allow environmentally responsible control.

The system is independent from the user and allows non-use step-down of room chilling via micro-wave motion detectors.

Supply and installation of a comfort cooling system spread over two separate packages.

  • Package 1
Installation of a separate external chilled water plant and comfort cooling system serving the basement, ground and first floor commercial offices section, together with new lighting within offices and corridors, new ceilings and controls including fire alarm.
  • Package 2
Includes the installation of a chilled water fan coil comfort cooling installation, with the installation of new fan coil units, ventilation equipment, ductwork, grilles and diffusers. Installation of lighting within the corridors and offices complete with new ceilings, all areas fully decorated throughout.

Due to nature of the logistics and the high level of security at this Embassy, were only able to involve a small team of multi-disciplined tradesmen. This allowed us to intensify the workload and complete the sub-divide areas more efficiently.

The Embassy was still maintained as a working office and this required each phase to subdivide into small 4-5 office work areas.
